Finally cleaning out

Have been doing some clearing out of things, clothes I hate and haven't worn, also sorting thru things to make room in the wardrobe so I can get to my clothes, I have always had trouble throwing out things even to the op shops but I finally did it and it was VERY freeing.
I moved the divider and put it behind my desk and gave away the little table etc and have heaps more room and NO I am not getting anymore!!!!
Think I do well as all i own fits into this very large room,I am enjoying the extra room.
We have been having a heat wave in Australia and I must admit today did get to me a little i felt ite dizzy with it and had a ripper headache, it did cool down with a nice breeze this afternoon, but tonite is quite hot which is unusual,as we are lucky and don't often get hot nights.
Well I am off to sleep now ready to face another hot day.

One of those weeks!!!!!

We all have them, well trips to America seem to stir my teeth up or is it just coincidence? Abcesses seem to pop up when I come home from my trips, this is the second time ,would you believe?
After a night of a sudden onset of throbbing pain and another 2 days till I could see a dentist I am no longer in agony but $800.00 poorer.
The joys of older age, the tooth had to be saved as I am short of them!!
Then I ran into a friend at the shops only to be asked "Have you put on weight in America? To which I replied NO, then got, well youre face is fat!!Could be the abcess , as it was swollen duh.! Then Gee, your hair looks like a GOLLIWOGS!!!!
Boy one has to sometimes have VERY thick skin in this life. I was going to get my hair cut as it's getting a bit hard to handle but after the bill I just got from the dentist I will have to look like a golliwog a bit longer!!!!
Roll on next week, hopefully it will be better!!!

And I thought it was a MOUSE!!!!!

Well think it may be the last time I let the cat out on a nightly sojourn!
i had let the cat out for a little while, I don't feed her till later and she doesn't stay out long.

Well , I heard the customary tap on the screen door and let her in, thought it funny that she disapeared and thought, Oh no don't tell me she has a mouse, and promptly went to find her.
There she was under my desk playing with a baby SNAKE!!!! YES and a BLACK one at that!!!
So I madly tried to keep the cat and the snake APART and yelled madly for Anthony, who was cooking a barbeque.
He finally came with Yves his friend and they caught the snake and took it to the drain much to my relief!!!!
My cat has been kept on her lead since then, cause in Christine's words,  in her french accent, where there's a baby there's a MOTHER!!!!

Missing my American Grandbabies

Well since arriving back in Australia I've felt like I've been hit by a bus!!!! Jetlag really sucks, I've gone from not being able to sleep until 1am in America, then when i am supposed to be awake and bushy tailed, feeling almost comatose, to here in Aus going to bed with the chooks and waking with them!!!!

I went for a walk at 6am this morning and NO I didn't wet the bed!!!

I am missing my grandkids over there SOOOOO much its agony ! I found Nathan and Karen's phone number and rang this morning but got the times mixed up and Jentzen was napping but got to talk to Ava and Quaid and Karen and I'm going to ring later to talk to Jentzen and maybe hear Keira heavy breathe!

I'm thinking it would have been easier not to have gone , gotten to  know them , only to have to leave, knowing it may be 5years before we see each other again, that being if I am allowed to fly by then.

I have come to love them very much, they are so beautiful, all with different personalities and each hold a very special part in Nana's heart.

The time has come for me to go

Well I have come to the end of my trip to the U.S.A, It is 6.32 Wednesday night and I leave from Minneapolis at 9am in the morning to fly to Chicago, then onto New York then at 6.30 tomorrow night I leave JFK airport to fly home.

It's hit me today the fact that I don't know when I'll be back, Karen was saying it wouldn't be for 5 years and it hit me that Quaid would be 10. I just get to know them and then I have to go and I won't see them for maybe 5years. 

I'm not one to cry,haven't done much of that i tend to bottle it up ,but as I write this tears are forming  ,it's not only the kids I'll miss, but my boy and his wife, whom I really only got to know properly this trip. She is a wonderful wife and Mum and it has been a privelege to know her.

It has been wonderful to see the great Father and Husband my son has become and we have become close again. Guess I must have done something right.

It is with a sad heart that I prepare to leave this beautiful family behind as I love them all so much.

October 12th. My four cheeky Monkeys

Well it was Nathans birthday today,the first one we've had together since his 21st so it was rather special to me.
I minded the four grandchildren when Jeanne and Joe dropped them of at 3pm.  We watched television together and had snacks and candy as they call it here. Keira was a little fussy, so to Avas' horror Nanna let her into the drawer that contains all the bowls and she had an absolute ball I went to check on her and she was in the drawer!!!

She loves to climb into and onto almost anything she can, she is a crackup. Ava proceeded to tell me in a very serious voice that Mommy doesn't let her do that! She is a real little Mother hen and takes good care of her siblings.

Jentzen is a little monkey, so cute and mischevious, when his grandma dropped him off he went straight over and into the snow much to Grandma Jeanne's horror, it was so funny!!!  Reminded me of my son years ago. Quaid was very quiet and watched Bindy with the animals, both him and I were TRYING to hear the show while Ava and Jentzen were wrestling on the lounge, they are all so cute and it will be heart wrenching to leave them all.

Snow in Minnesota!

Woke up this morning and thought it seems a little dark,so i looked thru the window and saw the first heavy snow fall for the year. Apparently it is early in the year for snow, usually doesn't fall untill after October.
I have taken some photos and will post them on the blog when i get my son to upload it off the camera for me.

It was lovely to see the snow falling and falling over everything, suddenly making the world around us silent and white, so pretty, but I am an Aussie Girl at heart and Queensland particularly the Gold Coast is firmly entrenched in my heart. It is where I always dreamt I would live and I can't see myself anywhere else. I love the climate there and as they say beautiful one day perfect the next.

2 weeks ago

Are You A Scrapper?

Well what a night I had ,I was invited to a scrap day which of course turned into a scrap night, yes, left at about 9am in the morning and you guessed it arrived home at 11.30pm tired but satisfied after a VERY lovely day.

Karens beautiful Sister In Law, Emily drove me somewhere to a scrap shop where I met some new ladies and some others I knew, for a day of Scrapping, eating, talking and talking, Yes we did get some work done, no REALLY, I did I got 9 pages done and GUESS WHAT Mel I love what I did, yes you heard right your Mother is actually happy with her work!!!!

I woke very early to see the first snowfall here for the year, it is on the roof and all over the ground only light to them but to me its fairly heavy seeing as I never see it in sunny Queensland. It looks very pretty and I am going to take some photos.

Well I hear my gorgeous Grandchildren are up and about, I am enjoying my time with them it is very precious to me, as I dont get to see them with the great distance that there is between us all, so I am making the most of the time we have.

Trip To Georgia, South Carolina

I had two weeks at Nathans then flew to Georgia to see my beautiful cousin Cheryl whom I havent seen for 21 yrs,we were always close to each other growing up.What a lovely12 days spent seeing the sights, catching up and laughing and laughing.

The highlight was when Brittany flew across and we all went to Savannah for the day,what an amazing place,we took a 90min tram trip around the city, I will post some photos,well I will get Nathan to post them hee hee,he helped me do this.Savannah is a place rich in the history of the South,with so many beautiful old houses,parks,the roads down near the harbour are cobblestones and the paths are made with shells,I was awestruck and amazed and enjoyed it thoroughly.

To top off the day we went to a restaurant and shared Mexican yum!!!!It was very good mexican,then we topped it off with a yummy ice cream.I can say no more!!!!!

 

Trip to the USA

Well this started off without much trouble until I arrived into Sydney with two bags and two carry-ons yes I know!! Well it was a time that should have been captured by video, me trying to lift two HEAVY suitcases onto the bus to take me to International, me lifting and NOTHING happening!!!.  Then when I finally got to International I was told I didnt have an E ticket and I wouldnt be able to travel to the US.  I said to the lovely lady oh no I havent seen my grandchildren for 3 yrs,well after a few cell calls to Mel and her to Karen in the US I was FINALLY on that plane and NOT budging!  Well Business Class is another world , lovely food, service and best of all LAYING down, I was in heaven!!!.  They even gave me a pair of Jamas.

The trip went well until Dallas,Texas my plane was an hour late so I missed the connecting plane,then the next plane had engine trouble and YADA YADA YADA, so I was put on the last flight out that night, so I decided to try Starbucks pumpkin spice coffee, I had the 2 carry ons so decided to balance the coffee on one and yes you guessed it!!!  To my horror and embarresment it fell and didnt just spill on the floor it flew ALL over the Starbucks floor, I tapped the staff member on the back and said excuse me but Im soooo sorry Ive dropped my coffee, she sort of gasped and called for a mop.  I must have looked so mortified that they felt sorry for me and gave me another one.

Well I made sure it was safe and proceeded to find a chair and continued my wait enjoying that Starbucks.  Finally on the plane and arrived at the house at 1am in the morning tired but relieved to be finally home!!!!!
